One of the things I love about working for IntelliTect is our commitment to purposeful generosity. So when I saw the opportunity to be a philanthropy ambassador for one of the non-profits we support, I decided to go for it. I selected World Relief because I had volunteered with them in the past, and having that background knowledge about the organization made it easier to get up to speed on how to help communicate their impact to IntelliTect’s other employees.

What World Relief Does
World Relief offices in the U.S. are notified by the government when refugees are arriving in their city. From the moment they land, World Relief steps up to welcome them at the airport and assigns them a case worker who helps with paperwork, employment, and other essential needs.
Many community members volunteer to be conversation partners to help refugees learn English, translate mail, attend medical appointments, or provide transportation. Some even teach driving lessons or help newcomers learn to use the bus system.
World Relief also offers a Friendship Center where refugees can come to socialize, bring their children, and ask questions in a safe and welcoming environment. They provide a wide range of services while also creating opportunities for local community members to build genuine relationships with their new neighbors. Having volunteered with them myself, I can attest to how valuable and eye-opening that experience can be.

Finding Meaning Through Purposeful Generosity
Becoming an ambassador for World Relief has increased my job satisfaction because the work I do for clients does not always directly address the pain I see in the world, which can weigh heavily on me. Through this opportunity, I can support an organization that is meeting real needs and helping people rebuild their lives.
I am also realizing that most people are generous. They simply need more information about who is doing what to help meet the needs in our community and beyond. It is incredibly rewarding to share that information with my coworkers and see them respond with so much interest and generosity.
This experience motivates me to keep moving through the more routine parts of my work, knowing it ultimately contributes to a positive impact.
