Announcing IntelliScholar Grand Prize Winner Ben Schreiber

Local IntelliScholar Joins the IntelliTect Team for Summer Internship

Following the success of last year’s IntelliScholar launch, the IntelliTect culture crew offered the scholarship again for the 2022 academic year.

IntelliTect hosted their second-annual IntelliScholar celebration for their grand prize winner, Ben Schreiber, a recent graduate from Cheney High School.

“As someone interested in software development, the IntelliTect scholarship gave me a unique chance to explore the industry first-hand,” Schreiber said. “It allowed me to see what the day-to-day office environment looks like and introduced me to professionals in the field that genuinely want to help me with my career.”

2022 Grand Prize Winner Celebration

Schreiber joined the IntelliTeam for a team lunch to receive his scholarship check and grand prize winner certificate of recognition.

Schreiber spent the afternoon learning from IntelliTect team leaders and members Grant Erickson, Allen Monroe, Kevin Bost, and Jenny Curry.

“We didn’t know what to expect when looking at high school students with a desire for [computer science], but again I’m amazed at the quality we’ve managed to reveal once we bothered to look,” said Allen Monroe, Diversity, Inclusion, Culture and Equality (DICE) leader, and IntelliTect senior project manager. “We couldn’t be prouder of the quality of our winner this year.”

Schreiber hopes to graduate college with a degree in computer science and work as a software engineer. He is working for IntelliTect as an intern this summer before attending Washington State University in fall 2022.

A Word from Last Year’s IntelliScholar Grand Prize Winner

The IntelliTect Scholarship aims to increase diversity in tech by providing opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds. The purpose is to give upper-level high school students the resources, mentorship, and financial aid needed to succeed in the tech industry. Although students are not required to pursue a computer science major, they are highly encouraged to consult IntelliTect with questions.

Last year’s grand prize winner Emma Spece, and the 2022 IntelliScholar Winner, Schreiber, both worked as interns at IntelliTect this summer. They participated in the IntelliTect Hackathon, where they competed on opposing teams.

“Being selected to receive the IntelliTect Scholarship has opened doors in both my academic and professional career,” said last year’s grand prize winner Emma Spence. “Not only have I met some amazing mentors along the way, but I have also gained knowledge to navigate the complex tech industry and succeed in my courses. The scholarship has given me opportunities that I never thought were possible.”

Applications Accepted in Spring 2023

Students are encouraged to apply for the scholarship when the application reopens in 2023.
